2 turkey breast on an ugly drum smoker

How To Smoke A Turkey Breast

I used many types of grills and smokers, and they all work well for this recipe. I have used my Ugly Drum Smoker that I built myself with parts from the Hunsaker Smoker LINK to website.

But, as I mentioned above, you can use any type of smoker, and many people use their pellet smoker with great tasting results.

One of the reasons that I choose a turkey breast over a whole turkey is that the internal temperature only has to come to 165 degrees Fahrenheit instead of 185 for a whole turkey.

Here are the steps:

  • Make sure the turkey breast is thawed out, and pat it dry
  • Rub the Turkey breast with the rub
  • Optionally,l you can inject it with a mix of melted butter and your rub
  • Let it sit overnight if you can. If no,t at least 2 hours
  • Pre-heat smoker to 225 Fahrenheit
  • Place the turkey breast on the smoker and add a temperature probe in the thickest part.
  • Smoke till the internal temperature reaches 165 Fahrenheit
  • Remove the turkey breast from the smoker and cover it with aluminum foil
  • Let it rest for about 20 minutes.

If you like, you can bring the turkey before cooking. You can have a look at my article on how to brine a turkey LINK.

There are a lot more grill recipes that you can have a look at end if you think a turkey breast is too hard to start with, have a look at my other recipes.
