Although a fairly new manufacturer, I found several good reviews for this welding blanket.

With its 4′ to 6′ size, it is large enough to cover a variety of smokers.

You might need to blow it off first because of the loose fibers.

Insulated Blankets For Pellet Smokers

Most pellet smoker brands offer special insulated covers for their pellet grills.

I made a whole page for the Traeger insulation blanket for Traeger owners.

There are coming more and more after-market brands out and I found several of them on Amazon.

I have to be honest and mention that I think they are a little high in price.

However, the advantage of them is that they fit great and because of the maybe perform better.

Welding Blanket For Smokers – My Experience

Using any type of smoker in the wintertime means experiencing even more temperature fluctuations than in the summer months.

I have seen temperature drops of 40 degrees as soon as the sun went down on a cold winter day.

Although you can buy pellet insulation blankets for most brands, they sometimes come with a pretty heavy price tag.

When I started digging more into the subject of keeping the temperature in any type of smoker as steady as possible, I stumbled upon the use of welders blankets for smokers to do that.

I have welding gloves to protect my hands when I am cooking on my pit, and also when I pick up my charcoal starter.

I never thought of using a welding blanket on a smoker, but now I even use it on my Oklahome Joe offset smoker in colder weather or strong wind.

It was not easy to find thermal welding blankets that are a good match for a smoker. I found some great ones, but they were so heavy that it would make it just harder to use on your smoker.

So, I had to find lighter ones that were still insulated enough to keep the temperature in the smoker from jumping up and down.

One thing I also was not able to find was one for a vertical smoker.

I do not try to bore you with many options and have narrowed it down to what I think are affordable and usable welding blankets for most smokers.

Welding blankets can work with much higher temperatures than our smokers work on, so although I mention the temperature they can withstand, I don’t think that is much of a point to worry about.

If you have used a welding blanket as an insulation blanket on your grill, let me know how that worked in the comments.

I have used this welding blanket for a long time now, and although it starts to look rough, I am very happy with the more consistent temperature in my smoker.
