One of the tools I reach for every single time I cook. Whether it’s a steak, rack of ribs, or smoked chicken, is my instant-read thermometer. When I got the chance to test out the Chefstemp FinalTouch X10 review, I didn’t have to think twice.
I’ve gone through a few different thermometers over the years, so I was curious to see how this one stacked up.
Disclaimer: I received this thermometer for free to test and review. Everything below is based on my own honest experience using it around the grill and in the kitchen.
First Impressions
A good handheld thermometer needs to be fast, reliable, and easy to handle. The FinalTouch X10 checked those boxes right out of the gate.
It feels solid in my hand, has a nice weight to it, and the large rotating display is a big plus when you’re juggling tongs and trying not to burn your knuckles.
Main Features
Here are the features that stood out to me while testing:
- Temperature range: –22°F to 572°F (–39°C to 300°C)
- Response time: around 1 second
- Switches between °F and °C
- Auto-rotating and motion-activated display
- Waterproof up to 3 feet
- Magnetic back for easy storage on your grill or fridge
- 270° rotating probe, which turned out to be more useful than I expected
That probe rotation came in handy when I was checking meat from awkward angles. No twisting my wrist into weird positions to get a reading.
Testing Accuracy
Whenever I test a thermometer, I start with the basics: boiling water and ice water, since those are easy to check.
Boiling water test

It hit right around 212°F, which means the accuracy is spot-on.
Ice water test

It read just above 32°F, which is about as close as you can get unless you are working in a lab.
Eddie’s Tip! After these tests, I can only give the accuracy a thumbs-up from me.
So, the accuracy gets a thumbs-up from me.
response time
As for the response time, Chefstemp claims one second, and in my use, that’s not far off. The reading settles fast.
Although I’ve noticed it takes a hair longer when the temperature jump is extreme. Like going from near freezing to hot oil.
Eddie’s Tip! For everyday cooking and grilling, it is quick enough to keep things moving smoothly.
Using It Around the Grill
I used the FinalTouch X10 for a few cooks. Burgers, smoked pork loin, chicken breasts, and some other grill and smoker recipes. The big screen made it easy to read even in bright sunlight, and I liked that it automatically flipped depending on how I held it.
That little detail saves you from squinting or turning your head sideways.
It also feels sturdy in bigger hands, which I appreciate. Some thermometers are so slim they feel like they might slip out of your hand when you’re wearing gloves. This one does not.
Eddie’s Tip! If you grill at night, you’ll like that the display lights up automatically when you pick it up. That motion sensor is more than just a gimmick. It is actually useful when you’re trying to keep the lid open and get a quick temp check.
Chefstemp FinalTouch X10 Review – My Experience
After a few weeks of using the Chefstemp FinalTouch X10, I can say it’s earned a spot in my grilling kit. It’s fast, accurate, and built tough enough to handle backyard use.
I’ll keep testing it over time to see how the battery holds up, but so far, it’s a winner in my book.
If you’re looking for a reliable thermometer that works just as well for grilling as it does for kitchen use, this one is worth checking out.
The FinalTouch is permanently on the side of the refrigerator in our kitchen and is used by my wife while she is cooking
